What is Youth Energy Day?

Youth Energy Day is a hybrid event that unites prominent energy companies across Africa to nurture and empower future leaders in the industry. Graduates, early-career professionals, and entrepreneurs have the opportunity to network, acquire knowledge, and explore job prospects during this one-day event, featuring workshops, networking sessions, and various engaging activities. Scheduled to occur throughout Africa in the forthcoming months and years, interested individuals can apply to attend either in person or online via the YES! Connect platform.

The YES! mission is to enable the next generation of energy leaders to develop the network, connections and knowledge needed to take on the task of electrifying Africa.
Many young people don’t consider the energy sector as a possible career path simply because they’re unaware of the opportunities or the hugely diverse and exciting jobs that are out there. YES! seeks to change that.

 

In a world-first, the 2023 Youth Energy Day was an initiative that took place simultaneously in four African cities: Nairobi, Cape Town, Lagos and Cairo. Supported by three host universities, it was also live-streamed through the YES! Connect digital platform – so that everyone, wherever they were in the continent, had the opportunity to be part of it.
